A Liberal Government will provide funding that will see a new, covered bowling green constructed at East Shepparton Bowls Club.
An elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $600,000 toward the $1.2 million project that will see the construction of just the second undercover bowling green in the Shepparton electorate. East Shepparton Bowls Club will also contribute $600,000 to the project.
The new undercover green will allow the 120 club members and bowlers from around the Shepparton electorate and wider area to play bowls all-year-round.
The Club hosts many local and major tournaments such as the Victorian Open and the undercover green will ensure such events are not affected by inclement weather.
The Victorian Open is the state’s premier bowls event and will be held in Greater Shepparton through to 2020.
East Shepparton Bowls Club plays host to sectional rounds of the tournament and the new undercover facility at the Club will enhance the running of the prestigious event.
The project will not only meet the needs of local bowlers but also enhance the district’s reputation as a major sporting event destination and boost the Club’s ability to attract additional tournaments, which will provide a significant economic boon for the Shepparton electorate.
With Victoria’s growing population, it is important that our communities have access to quality sporting facilities.
While Daniel Andrews handed the AFL $225 million of taxpayers’ money to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberal Nationals continue to support local grassroots sporting clubs.
